F1 is going to Singapore!

This is so frustrating…After being such a big F1 fan for so many years, wondering why Singapore does not have a race, the year i leave Singapore to study, the announce that F1 is going there. The worse thing is that it’s during the school year so i won’t be able to see it either. But i guess i can’t really complain since i’m in Montreal, home of the Canadian Grand Prix. It’s coming up on the 8th, 9th and 10th of June!! I can’t wait…should be a great experience!

My first A!

Collected my first ‘A’ at McGill! Haha…Intermediate calculus…and 3 days before the exam i was so worried because i hardly understood the syllabus. So those 3 days of slaving over math finally paid off! In that case, I should have just skipped all my lectures and spent 3 days looking at the material…lol…but then again the lecture notes were helpful, though i basically just copied blindly most of the time during lecture…Quite happy with myself though i’m wondering where i lost marks at in my Finals…must have made silly mistakes…

Hope there will be a few more ‘A’s to come…

Squirrels!

Was out walking with Zhi Wei along the streets when we came across a park where an old man was feeding some squirrels with peanuts. We stopped to look and the kind old man gave us some peanuts, blabbering french instructions on how to feed them. So i knelt down and waited for the hungry little critters to come over, creating picture perfect moments that Zhi Wei captured.

Left with 1 exam!

Finally, hell week has passed and i’m left with 1 exam…and a computing exam to boot…so shouldn’t be a big deal…It’s still 6 days away so i can take it easy for now…haha…So far all my exams seemed to have gone relatively well, except for my fundamentals of electrical engineering, which i’m slightly concerned about but i guess the results will get curved so hopefully i’ll do fine…

Time to pack up my room now as i’ve left it in a mess for the past 2 wks, just concentrating on my studying. I didn’t even cook and just microwaved frozen food or ate out. Very unhealthy lifestyle…the only plus was that i was sleeping early and waking up early…which is not something i usually do, and which i quickly reverted back to normal now that most of my exams have finished…

The weather these 2 days have been fantastic! Just in time after my exams to enjoy it! Can’t believe that just 3 days ago, a snowstorm had just passed. There’s still lumps of snow sitting by the roadside, slowly melting. It’s a balmy 10+ degrees now and finally i can start walking outside in short sleeves…first time i’ve done so since arriving in Canada. Now that i’ve been wearing long sleeves so much, walking outside in nothing more then a short sleeved shirt makes me feel kind of naked…But then again, there are guys walking around topless here…haha…

Another snowstorm!

Zzzzz…when will the snow end? I feel like spring is not even here and summer is supposed to be ard the corner…looking at the snow all around now, i can’t imagine temperatures hitting the high 30s here…haha…

2 wks till the end of exams…

End of 1st semester!

The last day of classes was today…Can’t believe time passes so fast…it’s already the end of my first semester in university already! 6 papers to go before i completely finish my semester! But my schedule is quite crazy and its not helped by the fact that McGill doesn’t have the practice of having 1 wk of study break.

So basically, my exams start in 2 days time (Friday)! By this time next wk, I would have finished 5 of my 6 papers…1 paper on mon, 2 on tues and 1 on wed. Then the next paper is MORE than a wk after…haha…oh well…i can’t decide if time shld pass faster or slower. On one hand, i really want the exams to be over and done with but on the other hand, i would have liked more time to prepare for my papers…

That’s all i have time for now…just a short update. Time to go back to work!

Weather madness!

The weather has gone all wonky…It’s April and spring has long arrived. But just as i thought i’m safe from the cold, the temperature suddenly dips today and it starts snowing again. And it’s not any light snow, but a rather heavy storm! Talk about strange weather! Looking out of my window, it seems like winter had never left…Tomorrow is time to break out the snow shovels again!

You know spring is coming when…

…you start seeing patches of grass showing through the snow.

…birds start flying around and making chirping / squawking noises.

…the school puts away the snow shovels and start tending to the grass.

…you go to school without wearing additional layers of clothing.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Yesterday was st. patrick’s day. It was marked today by the St. Patrick Day’s parade. The biggest on this side of the Atlantic if not for the one in New York. To give you an idea of the size of the parade, basically, the parade started at 12pm and we watched all the way till 2pm before we left and the parade still stretched as far back as our eyes could see. It took place down the main street of downtown Montreal, somewhat akin to Orchard Road in Singapore. I guess you could equate the parade to Chingay in Singapore, except larger and with a distinct Irish influence. (It originates from Ireland after all.)

More info about it can be found on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Patrick’s_Day
