Most dramatic end to the F1 season possible!

November 2, 2008 hschin Leave a comment

Just watched the most dramatic Grand Prix of my life, where Lewis Hamilton won the driver’s championship on the last corner, overtaking Timo Glock to take 5th. It was particularly hard to watch Ferrari celebrating the championship before realizing 5 seconds later that they had just lost it. It was really a heck of a roller-coaster ride of emotions throughout the race. And I thought I had seen it all at the Brazilian Grand Prix last year, when it was Kimi who won the championship by 1 point.

Oh well, this season is barely over and I’m already looking forward to the new season! Lot’s of rule changes that can really shake things up but I’m quite sure Ferrari is going to be right up there challenging for the championship again. Forza Ferrari!

And now I have to try to get my head back and focus on my exam tomorrow. :(

Grand Prix du Canada

The Grand Prix weekend in Montreal was AMAZING. I got to watch the Formula1 race live at the track and it was such a blast. And there was so much more going on downtown as well. I counted 5 major roads around the downtown area that were completely closed and used for events like the Montreal Fashion Show and other Grand Prix related events. St. Laurent, McGill College, Peel, Drummond and Crescent were all closed to road traffic and jam-packed with people this weekend. And the weather also seemed to cooperate as well. Our first 30-degree-celcius day of the year!

I’ll post photos when I finally make the effort to go through the 1000+ photos i took over this weekend.

F1 is coming to town!

No i’m not referring to the news of F1 coming to Singapore anymore. Yes! F1 racing is coming to Montreal next week! The atmosphere here is simply terrific. Everywhere there’s F1 related ads already and just today i saw 3 Ferrari road cars! -drools- The build up to the race will be electrifying…i’ll probably go down to hang out at the circuit area and try to get cheap tickets to watch the race! My first up close and personal experience with F1 racing!

Anyway i’ve just completed my first month of summer studies and just took my finals on Thurs. It was quite disastrous considering that it was a very simple final. Oh well…don’t want to dwell on it. Summer studies was much more intense than i expected as we’re completing 4 months of studies in 1 month. So every week of lesson is 1 month of lessons and since we only have class 4 days a wk, it means dat every lesson is 1 weeks’ worth of lesson. The good thing is that we get over the course in 1 month and during summer we only concentrate on 2 subjects.

Also had to do an oral presentation for my Communications in Engineering class about our project wearing formal stuff with tie and all. Dreadful experience but i learnt a lot. I guess that’s stuff I have to get used to for next time coz as engineers we’ll have to do lots of presentations like that. The hardest thing is trying to explain highly-technical or specialized info to pple who don’t know anything about the subject as they keep asking the same questions over and over again. Luckily i did quite well despite all the nervousness.

My next semester of summer studies start on monday next week and it should be good since i won’t have anymore 8.30am lessons. My lessons next month start at 1.30pm! Can sleep in! And ger’s coming back to Montreal in 2 wks’ time!!

F1 is going to Singapore!

May 12, 2007 hschin Leave a comment

This is so frustrating…After being such a big F1 fan for so many years, wondering why Singapore does not have a race, the year i leave Singapore to study, the announce that F1 is going there. The worse thing is that it’s during the school year so i won’t be able to see it either. But i guess i can’t really complain since i’m in Montreal, home of the Canadian Grand Prix. It’s coming up on the 8th, 9th and 10th of June!! I can’t wait…should be a great experience!
