Grand Prix du Canada

The Grand Prix weekend in Montreal was AMAZING. I got to watch the Formula1 race live at the track and it was such a blast. And there was so much more going on downtown as well. I counted 5 major roads around the downtown area that were completely closed and used for events like the Montreal Fashion Show and other Grand Prix related events. St. Laurent, McGill College, Peel, Drummond and Crescent were all closed to road traffic and jam-packed with people this weekend. And the weather also seemed to cooperate as well. Our first 30-degree-celcius day of the year!

I’ll post photos when I finally make the effort to go through the 1000+ photos i took over this weekend.

Interesting things…

…I noticed about cars in Canada.

- An overwhelming majority of cars are Jap cars. Everywhere you’ll see Toyotas, Hondas, Mazdas, Lexus, Acura etc. but u will seldom see American cars on the roads. Goes to show how much trouble GM and Ford are in now.

- Canada has no car manufacturer of itself. All its cars are brands from other countries though they might be manufactured in Canada.

- No matter how good / expensive / high-end the cars are, most people don’t seem to bother with washing them. Maybe its because its the winter and no one wants to spend half an hour standing outside in the freezing cold splashing water. Or maybe it’s just that nobody cares. Heard that a car wash in Canada costs about 8 or 9 bucks. Some of the cars are so dirty that you almost can’t see the original colors in which they came in.
